Earlier, Rena Bitar and Janine Wynne, Deputy Assistant Secretary of the US Bureau of Population, Migration and Refugees, met the Acting Secretary of State on Saturday afternoon.
After the meeting, Khurshid Alam said that various issues were discussed with Rena Bitar but there was no discussion on visa policy. Nor did he raise this issue.
“There were some issues like our students do not get visa easily. Some of us who work in international organizations, I mean those who are Bangladeshi born, also face problems in getting visas. We have highlighted those issues. He said he would consider the issues. They have reduced the visa expiry time, which was very high earlier. Now it has been reduced to six months.”
