Awami League sources say the October programs have not been finalized yet, but they will mostly be rallies and meetings. Whatever he does, his eyes will be on Awami League. Awami League will have programs to counter any programme.

Speaking to Prothom Alo on condition of anonymity, two leaders of the North and South city units of the Awami League said, if the BNP has held the rally empty-handed, the AL will also be empty-handed. If the BNP adopts a program like siege or blockade, it will inevitably be aggressive. In that situation, Awami League people will be ready with sticks and rods to take action.

Meanwhile, the BNP is holding 12 days of rallies and meetings till October 4. Awami League is also not on the streets till October 4 with various programs announced. Some programs of both the parties take place on day to day basis in and around the places.

The programs of Awami League and BNP are different from those which have been announced. BNP had organized a rally in Naya Paltan on Sunday demanding the release of its chairperson Khaleda Zia. The ruling AL held a ‘peace and development’ rally at Jinjira in Keraniganj on Tuesday.

Awami League policy makers feel that at a certain point it may be necessary to unite freedom fighters, transport workers, cultural workers and professionals. They are preparing accordingly.

An organizing secretary of the central committee of the Awami League, unwilling to reveal his name, said that there will be no rest for the Awami League leaders and workers in October. He said, there are already plans to hold rallies in every assembly constituency of the capital. Apart from this, processions and other programs will also take place if needed.
