A three-day strike began in various government colleges, Government Aliya Madrasa, Government Teacher Training Colleges, Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education, Board of Education and other concerned departments on the call of BCS General Education Association.

The strike ended today Thursday. Earlier, the education cadre officers had again gone on strike on October 2 with these demands.

A statement signed by BCS General Education Association president Shahedul Khabir Choudhary and general secretary MD Shaukat Hussain Mollah said, “We were hopeful that the authorities would come forward to meet our just demands for the sake of the country’s education system. However, no official initiative has been taken yet. Therefore, we have declared a complete strike on 17th and 19th October as per the decision of the association. However, we have given a relaxation of one day in between to celebrate Sheikh Russell Day in a dignified manner.”

The BCS General Education Association held a press conference at the Dhaka Reporters Unity Auditorium in the capital on 30 September to announce its demands and programmes.
