Removing footpath shop from the roadside is a much talked issue in Bangladesh now a days. The process of removing footpath shops starts in Dhaka first. But the process also continues to be implemented in Sylhet too.

The Sylhet Metropolitan Police on Thursday removed around 1,000 makeshift shops from the footpaths of several streets of the Sylhet city.
The law enforcers also seized various kinds of merchandise including clothes, readymade garments, showpieces, utensils and toys during the drive, sources in the police said.
An SMP team, led by assistant commissioner Javed Ahmad began the drive from City Point at about 10:30am and completed eviction at Chowhatta on the city in the afternoon.
Sources in the SMP police said vendors had been warned several times not to set up shops on the footpaths and roadsides to keep the streets free for commuters.
SMP assistant commissioner Javed Ahmad told the New Age that only the goods of those vendors had been seized who were not found during the drive.
