The Ministry of Fisheries and Animal Husbandry said that like previous years, the government is going to impose a 65-day ban on fishing in the Bay of Bengal from May 20 to July 23 to ensure smooth breeding of fish.

A media release signed by the Ministry’s Public Relations Officer Mohammad Iftekhar Hussain said this on Thursday.

Catching of all types of brackish water fish will be prohibited during the period. All commercial trawlers have been asked to comply with the ban, the release said.
