The Prime Minister noted that as Bangladesh’s economy moves towards a higher growth path, it is desirable that ADB place a larger emphasis on projects that will bridge the digital divide, accelerate business competitiveness, advance and reduce poverty. Will transfer, produce carbon technologies. Promoting green energy, climate-resilient agriculture, diversifying exports, developing smart cities and enhancing skills and capabilities.

He indicated that Bangladesh may need additional financial assistance to deal with the underlying war situation and its effects on the global economy.

In this regard, he hoped that ADB would keep additional countercyclical and policy-based lending (PBL) assistance measures in its pipeline so that Bangladesh can make immediate use of them when needed.

The Asian Development Bank has emerged as one of the most reliable development partners of Bangladesh over the years.

ADB’s commitments to Bangladesh reach US$32 billion from 1973 to December 2023; Out of which the loan amount is US$ 31.4 billion and the grant amount is US$ 571.2 million. During the same period, ADB’s total disbursements were US$23.2 billion.
