In addition, Bangladesh Congress’s mayoral candidate Mohd Abu Rehan with green coconut election symbol got 10,549 votes, Khilafat Majlis’s Mohd Tauhidur Rahman Mondal got 2,864 votes and Jatiya Samajwadi Dal’s Mohd Shafir Rahman got 5,156 votes. Mohd Mehdi Hasan, an independent candidate from Moshal got 2,679 votes and Zekar Party’s Mohd Khurshid Alam got 5,809 votes from ‘Gulab’ symbol.
“A total of 279,936 voters out of 426,470 exercised their franchise in the RPCC elections and the average casting percentage stood at 65.88 per cent,” the RO said.
