Officials of Itakhola Highway Police Station and Fire Service went to the spot, rescued six injured passengers, took them to Narsingdi District Hospital and recovered bodies of five dead.
Two of the injured passengers died on the way to the hospital. Four other injured people have been sent to Dhaka for further treatment.
ANM Mizanur Rahman, in-charge of the Narsingdi district hospital, said the condition of one of the four injured is critical.
Kabir Hussain Bhuiyan, officiating in-charge of Itakhola Highway police post, said they have seized the microbus and the truck. They have also detained the truck driver.
Narsingadi Additional Superintendent of Police Anirban Chowdhary said all the seven deceased were passengers of the microbus. The bodies of the seven dead have been kept in the mortuary of the hospital. Legal action will be taken after the arrival of their relatives.
