12 killed in Magura road crash

At least 12 people have been killed and two others injured when a ‘tempo’ tumbled after being hit by a truck on Magura-Jhenaidah highway,
Police said the accident occurred in Saitrish area around 4:30pm on Sunday. Highway police sub-inspector (SI) Sarwar Hossain told reporters: “A passenger-laden tempo was going to Magura Sadar from Alamkhali. The tempo and a truck tumbled into a roadside ditch when the truck hit the tempo which had pulled over to drop off the passengers.”
Eleven people died on the spot and another was fatally injured in the accident, he said and added that the injured person later died at hospital.
One of the deceased was identified as Probir Mitter, 35, physical education teacher of Rautala School.
Those injured were admitted to Magura Sadar Hospital.
