He said imported liquefied natural gas (LNG) is supplied to Chattogram and the imported LNG is converted at two floating terminals at Moheshkhali in Cox’s Bazar. One of the floating terminals, owned by American company Accelerate Energy, is closed from 1 November 2023. The terminal was scheduled to resume operations on Thursday, but it did not go into operation as planned.

Additionally, low back pressure also disrupted gas supply from another terminal, which is owned by Summit LNG. As a result, gas supply in Chattogram is suspended, he said.

Aminur Rahman further said that gas supply is unlikely on Friday as Summit LNG’s terminal is being prepared for maintenance, and it is still uncertain when the situation will return to normal.
