“Citizens desperately need it, regardless of borders and boundaries, wherever they are. We urgently need it through the fastest, most direct and most effective routes. They need more of everything.”
Pedersen called for assurances that there would be no political barriers to getting aid where it is needed most inside Syria.
“We had a problem because the border crossing roads (between Turkey and Syria) had been destroyed,” Pedersen said. “But we were assured that we would be able to receive first aid today.”
