Young director Abu Shahed Emon’s film “Jalal’er Golpo” has won the Asian Cinema Fund (ACF) of the prestigious Busan Film Festival of South Korea. The film, awaiting release, has been selected in the post-production category, and is one of the 18 non-Korean selections from 565 applicants spread across 52 Asian countries.

The films selected for the post-production category are usually marked for important films for international festivals. “Jalal’er Golpo” is the only Bangladeshi film this year at the ACF.

The film, made under the boutique cinema project of Impress Telefilms, boasts a star cast featuring Mosharraf Karim, Moushumi Hamid, Tauquir Ahmed and Mitali Das, but the title role is played by newcomers Arafat Rahman and Mohammad Emon. Director Abu Shahed Emon will travel to South Korea next month for the post-production of his film at a renowned post-production studio there, before declaring its release date.
