He mentioned that the Bangladeshi diaspora in the UK is very hard working, and they are contributing to the British economy.

The British MPs also said that the UK would work with Bangladesh on the issue of climate change.

Ehsanul Karim said that they also discussed the next general elections in Bangladesh.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina appreciated British support to Bangladesh on the issue of climate change.

He said that the government is serious about the issue of climate change and has started taking adaptation and mitigation programs from its own resources.

He said in this regard that Bangabandhu had initiated the process of tree plantation in the coastal belt areas and construction of multipurpose cyclone shelters along with providing training to 75,000 volunteers.

Sheikh Hasina thanked Queen Elizabeth II for always paying special attention to Bangladesh as a patron of the Commonwealth of Nations.

He also conveyed his respect for the British Prime Minister.

Ambassador-at-Large M Ziauddin, Principal Secretary to PM M Tofzel Hossain Miya and British High Commissioner to Bangladesh Robert Chatterton Dixon were also present.
