Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (Rajuk) yesterday demolished around 10 structures including a three-storey building on the sideline of the under-construction Hatirjheel development project in the city’s Begunbari area (Hatirjheel-Begunbari Project).
The other demolished structures were makeshift tin sheds.
According to Rajuk they had to make the drive to free the alignment of the proposed peripheral road.
On Tuesday, Rajuk demolished six structures including portions of a three-storey and a five-storey building in the same area.
Further drives will be conducted on next Sunday or Monday to complete the eviction
According to a number of owners and residents of the demolished structures, however, alleged that Rajuk did not serve them any notice to evacuate.
Rajuk however, said all the occupants were notified around three years ago when the project was undertaken.
The district administration demarcated the area and handed over the land to the project authorities, according to Rajuk.
However, Rajuk cannot drive similar structures on the peripheral road in Ulan, Daspara of Rampura and Merul Badda until disposal of the cases pending in courts.
