According to the USDA report, the government has stockpiles of 366,000 tonnes of wheat and 1,520,000 tonnes of rice. Rice stocks increased after 4,000,000 tonnes more rice was imported.

According to the food ministry, the government has set a target of collecting 500,000 tonnes of rice, 300,000 tonnes of paddy during this peace season. Till January 18, 250,000 tonnes of rice, 3,000 tonnes of paddy have been collected so far.

The report states that the government has set a target of cultivating about 4.97 million (49 lakh 70 thousand) hectares to produce about 21 million (2 crore 10 lakh) tonnes of rice. Boro season rice cultivation has started across the country from January 2023 and is expected to be harvested between April and May.

Bangladesh’s wheat imports fell due to India’s wheat export ban, which increased the price of wheat. According to the TCB, the price of coarse wheat flour (atta) remained unchanged at Rs 62 per kg, and the price of fine quality wheat flour (maida), loose, increased marginally to Rs 72 per kg, which is Rs. Nearly 3 percent higher than the previous week.
