“We would like to take this opportunity to congratulate the people of Bangladesh on the successful outcome of the elections. Unfortunately, some opposition parties decided not to participate in the election process. External efforts to influence the outcome of the election were observed, as we noted on November 22 and December 15, 2023. In this situation, the leadership of Bangladesh should be recognized for creating favorable conditions for the free expression of the will of the voters.
Maria Zakharova also said that more than 200 international observers, including local observers and those from Russia, had confirmed the election’s legitimacy and adherence to generally accepted standards.
