After setting fire to the store, the suspect, identified as 21-year-old Jarrid Haddock, ran across the street and opened fire on a vehicle, forcing the driver into the passenger seat. Police said that the accused fled after stealing the car.

After an hour-long search, a relative of Haddock called officers to a location behind the warehouses where Haddock was hiding. Murray said that when police arrived, gunshots were heard and a man who identified himself as Haddock was found injured.

He said no officer was injured and no force was used.

Haddock died on the spot in the accident.
