President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Sunday that Ukraine needed new weapons and faster deliveries to face the “very difficult” situation of continuous attacks by Russian forces in the eastern Donetsk region.
“The situation is very difficult. There are continuous Russian attacks in Bakhmut, Vuhledar and other areas in the Donetsk region. There are constant attempts to break through our defences,” Zelensky said in his nightly video address.
“Russia wants the war to last long and our army to be exhausted. That’s why we have to make time our weapon. We must accelerate events, accelerate supplies and open up new weapons options for Ukraine.”
