The delegation included Martin Raiser, Vice President, South Asia Region, Abdoulaye Sek, Country Director for Bangladesh and Bhutan; Dandan Chen, Operations Manager for Bangladesh and Bhutan; Yutaka Yoshino, Chief Economist, Martin Holtmann, Country Manager, IFC Bangladesh; Elena Karban, Manager, External Communications; Barbara Weber, Senior Operations Officer, Office of Country Directors; and Mahreen Mahboob, senior foreign affairs official.
A press release said that the meeting discussed the present status of Bangladesh’s RMG industry including its challenges, prospects and vision of the industry.
They also discussed the potential impacts of Bangladesh’s LDC graduation on the apparel sector in particular, and the industry’s preparedness to maintain competitiveness in the post-LDC era.
