He is well on track to break the league record of 32 goals in a 38-game season set by Salah in 2017-18. He is also within reach of becoming the first player since Chelsea’s Jimmy Greaves in 1960–61 to score 41 goals in an English top-flight campaign.
However, his massive goal appears to have come at the expense of City’s overall play. After 18 matches he has 39 points, five less than at the same stage last season, while he has scored double the amount of goals, although he has scored two more.
