Four people including a Dhaka University student were killed and 35 injured as a bus plunged into a roadside ditch in Feni Sadar upazila early Saturday.
Mohipal highway police said a Dhaka-bound bus of St Martin Paribahan from Cox’s bazar fell into a ditch at Fatehpur around 4:00am, killing four passengers on the spot and injuring 35 others.
The deceased are Nahida Sultana, 24, a student at microbiology department of Dhaka University; Khalilur Rahman, 50, of Hatirpool; Delwar Hossain, 24, of Uttar Mugdapara; and Shahidul Islam of T&T colony of Purba Nakhalpara in Dhaka.
The highway police rescued the injured and rushed them to Feni Sadar Hospital and other local clinics, reports our Feni correspondent.
Most of the passengers of the bus were returning from Cox’s bazar after enjoying the Eid holidays, police said.
Shah Alam and Jainul Abedin, passengers of the bus who survived the road accident, told that the bus broke down at Chokoria upazila of Cox’s Bazar for half an hour after they started for Dhaka.
