Accommodation is one of burning problems in the capital now. Population is increasing so quickly as all administrative and commercial activities are centered in Dhaka. Many people from all over Bangladesh are joining to the capital every year.
Price of land, flat, house rent is increasing rapidly due to this crisis. In this situation the government is planning to develop four satellite towns near Dhaka where people may reside and easily come to the central part of Dhaka. Housing and public works minister Abdul Mannan informed this on parliament yesterday. These planned towns are Dhaleswari-Singair Satellite Town, Dhaka-Kamrangir Char Satellite Town, Ichhamati-Sirajdikhan Satellite Town and Bangshi-Dhamrai Satellite Town.
Two of the satellite towns will be built under public private partnership, one will be built under an agreement with Malaysian government. The government has already signed a memorandum of understanding with Malaysian government for Bangshi-Dhamrai Satellite town project.
