Voting started with EVMs at 229 centers in Rangpur Municipal Corporation on Tuesday morning.
Returning officer Abdul Baatein said it started at 8 am and would go on till 4.30 pm.
Nine candidates are in the fray for the post of mayor while 183 candidates are in the fray for the post of councilors in 33 wards. 68 candidates are in the fray for 11 reserved seats.
A total of 4,26,470 voters are likely to cast their votes in the municipal elections.
