BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia is visiting the house of Narayanganj panel mayor Nazrul Islam, who was abducted and killed along with six others, this afternoon to console his family members.
BNP central leaders including Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and Amanullah Aman received Khaleda when she reached Nazrul’s Siddhirganj house around 12:15pm.
The BNP chief will also meet the family members of four other victims, who were close aides of Nazrul, at the house.
She will visit the house of senior lawyer Chandan Sarkar, one of the seven ill-fated victims.
On April 27, seven people — Nazrul Islam and his four associates and Chandan Sarker and his driver — were kidnapped separately, but around the same time from the Dhaka-Narayanganj link road.
Six bodies were found in the Shitalakkhya river three days later and another the next day.
The other victims are: Moniruzzaman, Tajul Islam, Liton, Ibrahim, and Jahangir.
Khaleda was set to visit the family members tomorrow but she rescheduled her programme after Nazrul’s father-in-law on Sunday told reporters that the prime minister had invited them to her office on that day.
