Bangladesh is the second largest producer of medical waste in South Asia.
According to Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB), a ring is selling this recycled and hazardous medical waste in local markets as medical waste management in the country is weak and chaos prevails in the sector.
TIB revealed this in a study titled ‘Challenges of Good Governance in Medical Waste Management and Way Out’, which was released at a virtual event on Tuesday.
