New scheme of Tk 5,927crore to cut micro-credit habit

The government is going to start a project of Tk 5,927 crore to develop a small saving scheme for 51 lakh rural poor families. The government will form village organizations in 85,000 villages mainly to rescue marginal populace from micro-credit net.

The project is going to be done under the ‘One House, One Farm’ project of the government. The government has taken the initiative to make a savings habit among rural poor.

The objective is to aid people to get rid of abject poverty and refrain from the grip of microcredit.

The government will provide the necessary training in various agro-based income generating project.

The ultimate goal of the project is to reduce national poverty to 20 percent from 40 percent by 2015
