As Bangladesh has very limited export items, it relies heavily on remittance. The only resource surplus here is the manpower. Though there is shortage of skilled manpower. Mostly midlevel skilled workers go to different foreign countries especially Middle Eastern countries.
But global economic recession had also threatened to shrink this sector also. Remittance is the biggest source of foreign exchange for Bangladesh and United Arab Emirates (UAE) was the second highest recruiter of Bangladeshi workers.
There is report from local recruiting agencies that UAE has stopped renewing and issuing work visas for Bangladeshi workers. Bangladeshi officials are saying that they cannot do anything unless they do not know it officially.
Bangladesh Association of International Recruiting Agencies (Baira) is saying that the government needs to act promptly because UAE is recruiting highest numbers of workers now.
