A schoolgirl was killed and two more injured when a bus ran them over on Sirajuddoula Road in Chittagong.
Locals took to the streets and besieged the road for about an hour.
Rupa Choudhury, a grade-10 student of the city’s Kusum Kumari High School, was run over by a bus on her way to school to attend her test examination.
Monzur Morshed, assistant police commissioner of Kotwali zone, informed that the driver of the bus lost control and ran over Rupa and two of her classmates.
Duty doctors declare Rupa dead when locals took the three to Chittagong Medical College Hospital.
Assistant Commissioner Monzur Morshed said that locals caught the bus and gave the driver a thrashing before handing him over to the police. There was no movement of traffic in the area for about an hour after the incident.
