Sheikh Hasina greets cricket team for clinching series against New Zealand

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today congratulated players and coach of the national cricket team, officials of Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) and sports-loving people as Bangladesh clinched the five-match one-day series against New Zealand.

In a congratulatory message, the Prime Minister said the one- day series win against a test-playing nation like New Zealand is another milestone in the cricket history of the nation.

In this regard, she recalled Bangladesh’s earning the test status in 2000 during the previous Awami League government.

“The Tigers’ new achievement in cricket would inspire people of all walks of life to put in their best efforts to turn Bangladesh into a modern digital country,” she said.

Sheikh Hasina in her message reiterated her government’s strong commitment to extending allout support for further development of sports in the country.

“Bangladesh’s one-day series victory against New Zealand has proved that Bangladesh could perform at the highest level of any sport if the sector is properly nurtured and patronized by the government,” she said.

Bangladesh clinched the five-match one-day series today defeating New Zealand in the fourth one-day international by nine runs at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium here.
