World Diabetes Day to be observed around the world today. The number of diabetes patients across the country is more than 70 lakh.
In this connection Bangladesh Diabetes Association (BDA) will hold a daylong awareness programme today. Awareness can help preventing diabetes in most cases. Diabetes control requires a disciplined life of the patient.

Today is specially important as November 14 is the birthday of Insulin inventor Frederick Grant Banting. United Nations decided to observe the day as diabetes day in 2006 and the day has been observed since 2007.
