The session was not open to all, but was being broadcast on television screens in the media centre. At one point, Sharifa Khan, secretary of the Economic Relations Department (ERD) of the finance ministry and head of the Bangladesh delegation to the conference, was seen addressing the session on the TV screen.
He gave his speech in the morning (local time), but the subject could not be ascertained till afternoon.
The ADB Summit is not just a low-profile regular event, but Asia’s largest gathering of economic policy makers. Almost all countries sent their finance ministers and central bank governors, and most of them arrived here a day before the meeting on May 2.
Since then, he has held several meetings, addressed various events, and spoken to the media on various issues. Soon after attending the conference, India’s Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman held talks with the ADB President and sought a loan from the lender’s newly announced climate loan program.
