Launching Ceremony of BASIS –BRAC Bank Co-branded Credit Card was held on Saturday, the 30th July 2011 at Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel, Dhaka. Dr. Atiur Rahman, Governor, Bangladesh Bank was present at the ceremony as Chief Guest. Mr. Mahboob Zaman, President, BASIS presided over the meeting. Mr. Syed Mahbubur Rahman, Managing Director, BRAC Bank was present as Special Guest. Mr. AKM Fahim Mashroor, Senior Vice President, BASIS introduced the special co-branded credit card through a power point presentation. Among others Mr. Firoz Ahmed Khan, Head of Retail Banking of BRAC Bank, Mr. Forkan Bin Quasem, Secretary General, BASIS spoke on the occasion.

It might be mentioned here that, through introducing this special credit card for BASIS members will be able to make online payment in foreign exchange. With partnership of Brac Bank, special co-branded (BASIS-Brac Bank) VISA cards will be issued for BASIS members. The card can be used for online foreign exchange payment for specific business purposes (e.g. domain purchase, server hosting, software licence purchase etc. as allowed by Bangladesh Bank through a special circular (Circular No. FE 15).

This corporate card will be issued for BASIS members (one card for one BASIS member company) and the card can be used only for the specified type of foreign payment.

A ceremonial Credit card was handed over to Mr. ABM Reazuddin Mosharaf, Managing Director of Windmill Infotech, a newest member of BASIS.

Managing Director of BRAC Bank, Syed Mahbubur Rahman stated in his speech, that BRAC Bank will extend all possible cooperation towards the development of ICT Industry. BRAC will introduce e-Commerce Platform for BASIS members soon.

Dr. Atiur Rahman, Governor of Bangladesh Bank, in his speech, thanked BASIS for taking such a wonderful initiative. He also added that, Bangladesh Bank has already issued a circular with an approval of sending up to US $ 10,000 in a year by a BASIS member companies. He also assured that, inbound remittance through export of software and ITES could be remitted through Paypal and Moneybookers account in near future. Today you are doing co-brand with BRAC bank, now you plan for co-brand with other bank on EEF. He thanked BRAC Bank for initiating new ideas and steps in different sectors. He also added that, a circular has already been issued to extend support to the students who want to get admission in overseas universities through virtual credit card.

Among others, BASIS Members, Former Presidents and Secretary Generals of BASIS and representatives from Print and Electronic Media were present at the ceremony.
