The Israeli military has denied attacking or besieging al-Shifa hospital, and has repeatedly accused Hamas of using medical facilities as command centers and hideouts – a charge the group denies.
The Israeli military also said it would “provide the necessary assistance to help safely transport infants in the pediatric department to the hospital” at the request of Al-Shifa staff on Sunday.
According to the latest Israeli data, Hamas fighters crossed the militarized border with Israel on October 7, killing about 1,200 people, mostly civilians, and taking about 240 hostage.

The ministry said the death toll is usually updated daily, but could not be calculated on Saturday “due to hospitals being targeted”.
