BNP general secretary Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and standing committee member Mirza Abbas have been granted bail by the High Court in connection with last month’s violent clashes outside the party headquarters in Naya Paltan, Dhaka.
A panel of Justice Mohammad Saleem and Justice Riyaz Uddin Khan on Tuesday granted him interim bail for six months, paving the way for his release from jail.
Advocate Zainul Abedin represented him in the court, he was accompanied by AK Mohammad Ali, Kaisar Kalam, MD Ruhul Quddus and Sagheer Hussain. Additional Attorney General SM Munir, appearing for the state, opposed the bail plea.
Advocate Zainul Abedin said, “The court heard the petition and granted him bail for six months.” “Now, there is nothing to prevent his release.”
