Highway killings: rampant road accidents in Bangladesh

Accidents happen due to unfit vehicles, unlicensed driving, potholes on the road, tired and sleepy drivers, illegal vehicles and common people have to pay the price. They bear the pain of losing their loved ones, they fall into financial crisis when the earning member of the family is lost.

Housing and Public Works Ministry liftman Raqib Hussain along with his mother, wife and their two children died in Faridpur road accidents. His 12-member family has not only been hit by a mountain of sorrows, but has also faced a financial crisis.

Rakib's brother Mohammad Farid Hussain told Prothom Alo, “Raqib and I were the breadwinners of our joint family. With Rakib's demise, we are in financial crisis. I don't know how we will manage in the coming days.”
