Executive Magistrate Julkar Nayen said he fined Kachi Bhai restaurant under the Food Safety Act and directed it to seek clearance from all other agencies within the next week. If they fail to follow the instructions, the restaurant will be sealed.
Both Dhaka's municipal corporations swung into action and intensified their monitoring activities at restaurants after 46 people died in a massive fire that broke out on Bailey Road in the capital on February 29.
Over the next few days, the municipal corporations, in collaboration with the fire service and civil defence, conducted several operations at various points in the city and took legal action in cases of violation of rules and regulations.
