Referring to the summary judgment delivered by Justice Khairul Haq before introducing the 13th Amendment, Mirza Fakhrul said, “The judgment you used to introduce the 13th Amendment to eliminate the Article on Caretaker Government. Justice Khairul Haq had mentioned one more thing in the decision. He said it (caretaker government) is not relevant but for the sake of the country and for the sake of the people, two more (parliamentary) elections can be held under the neutral caretaker government system. But the condition was that no judge could be appointed there.”

The senior BNP leader further said that the full judgment was published 16 months after the summary judgment was announced but it was completely different from the summary judgment and there was no similarity between the two judgments. On the other hand, the Awami League passed the law in Parliament (to dissolve the caretaker government) even before the full verdict was published. But all political parties said that two more elections should be held under the caretaker government system.

Recalling the process of dismantling the caretaker government system, the BNP general secretary said, “Today you have emphasized on the Constitution. But you (the Prime Minister) have to resign before everyone else because you are not legitimate. What we say is clear, first resign, dissolve Parliament, hand over power to a non-party government and run in elections.
