Obama and Hillary greet Bengali speaking people

On the occasion of Pahela Baishakh( 1st day of Bengali new year) US President Barak Obama and Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton have greeted the Bengali speaking people around the world.

In a press statement issued in Washington DC on April 11, Secretary Clinton said, “On behalf of President Obama and the people of the United States, I send my best wishes to all Bengali speaking people around the world as you celebrate Pahela Baishakh in the coming days. I wish all Bengalis prosperity and happiness in this new year of promise and possibility.”

She said, “This holiday is an opportunity to honour the rich history of Bengali culture with music, drama and traditional foods. Artists, scientists, politicians and entrepreneurs have positively influenced American culture.”
