Tammat Bill Khor: From cycling for Messi to making headlines in Argentina

Tammatt is a fan of Argentina, that goes without saying. Though he was born in Chattogram, he is a resident of Tungipara, Gopalganj. His father Neyamot Ali Sikdar, a retired police officer, and mother Noorjahan Begum, a homemaker, live in Chattogram. Tammat, who is an under-contract athlete with the Bangladesh Police, lives in Dhanmandi, Dhaka.

His love for cycling started in 2016. He has participated in around 75 national and international cycling competitions, even winning a silver at the 2020 Bangabandhu Bangladesh Games. Tammat had also won a bronze medal in the 41st National Cycling Championship last year.

He started his 1003 km cycle journey from Shahpori Island to Messi in Teknaf on 24 December. Tammat reveals why he chose the location, “I started my journey from the westernmost point of Bangladesh- Shahpori Island. On the first day I reached Chakaria, on the second day Chattogram town, on the third day Daudkandi, Comilla, on the fourth day Dhaka, on the fifth day Tangail, on the sixth day Jamalpur, on the seventh day Gaibandha, on the eighth day Panchgarh and finally on the ninth day I completed my journey at Banglabandha Zero Point 11 a.m.”
