Earlier there were separate examinations for recruitment in banks. But there too the exam questions were already leaked. According to Prothom Alo report, the court has framed charges against 16 people, including Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) teacher Nikhil Ranjan Dhar, in the question paper leak case.

The preliminary examination for recruitment of officers (cash) in five state-owned banks under the Bankers Selection Committee of Bangladesh Bank was held on 6 November 2021. A total of 116,427 candidates appeared for the exam for 1,511 posts.

If for any reason the examination is canceled due to question papers, the troubles of the candidates increase. And if the exam is not cancelled, those who paid bribes have much more chances of getting the job than qualified test takers. There are allegations that those involved in the bank recruitment exam question paper leak of 2021 had taken Rs 500,000 to Rs 1,500,000 from each candidate.

Apart from this, it is also alleged that those applying for employment in various offices and departments of the government have to face all kinds of problems and delays, and also have to pay bribes. How to end this?

On March 21, the Daily Star published an investigative report on Bangladeshi migrants to Europe, 'Desperate for a home away from home'. The simple reason why a large number of youth want to go abroad is that there are no employment opportunities in the country. The report said, in 2022, a maximum of 33,731 Bangladeshis sought asylum in EU countries. They did not decide on jobs there before leaving. Many of those who fell victim to the 'agents' carried with them false documents. As a result, they are stateless.
