Speakers at a view exchange meeting on Saturday stressed for collective efforts of all concerned to stop violence against women and ensure gender equality, good governance and human rights in all spheres of life.
Many of the working women in rural and urban areas have been victimizing of various kinds of gender violence like verbal,physical, mental and sexual repression at their workplaces.
Speakers said this while Rajshahi University unit Bangladesh Mohila Parishad (BMP) and working journalists of the Rajshahi University unit took part in a view exchange meeting organized by BMP on the occasion of “International Fortnight for Elimination of Violence against Women-2010″ at Jubbery club here on Saturday afternoon.
They also thanked to the present government as they are going to pass laws on eve teasing on considering it as serious offence.
It is true that full elimination of violence against women is not an easy task because it is deep-rooted in our society where women don’t dare to disclose the fact even if they are tortured. But it is time to break the silence and come forward to put an end to violence,” said Mahbuba Kaniz Keya, secretary general of RU unit BMP.
